Rashmika Mandanna is fashion's favourite child currently. From brand endorsements to fashion shows, she is in demand. We spoke to the actor and asked her about her personal style and who inspires her when it comes to fashion.
You recently attended the Milan Fashion Week. How was your experience there and what difference do you see in global vs Indian fashion style?
RM: It was surreal! And to be there for a brand like Onitsuka Tiger, just added to the excitement and overall experience. I absolutely loved the entire Autumn/Winter 2023 collection showcased at the Milan Fashion Week. The theme of the collection was Urban Layering representing the central part of Japanese culture - dressing in layers.
Who is your one fashion inspiration and why?
RM: My mum and my grandmom have been the biggest inspiration for me with their kurtas and fabulous saris.
Tell us how the association with Onitsuka Tiger came about?
RM: I love the idea that Onitsuka Tiger has a perfect blend of modern and traditional aesthetics, and their contemporary collection completely resonates with my sartorial sense - unique, minimalistic and artistic. The brand allows me to showcase all aspects of my personality while experimenting with fashion forward styles and silhouettes.
You have been recently spotted in all black or white looks? Is monochrome fashion your new go-to style preference?
RM: The colour palette, black and white interrupted by the signature yellow and shiso green, helps you make a statement with your ensemble. I do not like putting extra effort into what I wear and hence I resonate with the concept of Japanese minimalism.
You always manage to make a statement with your unconventional sartorial choices. What fashion advice would you like to give your fans?
RM: I am a firm believer that style comes with comfort and confidence. My only advice to people would be to be comfortable and confident in what you are wearing, that is the only way you can put your best foot forward.
