Expecting her husband to gift her jewellery this Christmas after spotting the receipt on bank statements, a woman is devastated after the glitzy gift was given to someone else. Seeming like a sketch straight out of Love Actually, the woman fears that the present was gifted to another woman.
The woman's scenario is eerily similar to the heartwrenching scene in the iconic Christmas movie where Alan Rickman's character Harry gifts a necklace to another woman - and not to his wife.
Taking to popular forum Mumsnet, the woman sought advice after sharing concerns about her husband's history of messaging other women. Following her fears that her partner has been unfaithful again, she's ready to confront him about the infidelity.
Captioning the post, the Mumsnet user wrote: "It’s like Love Actually…and not in a good way."
She explained: "I found a receipt a few weeks ago for jewellery on my husband’s card. Christmas has come and gone and the jewellery hasn't arrived.
"I am worried he may have bought it for another woman.
"He has a form for messaging other women and always deletes the messages, usually as they come in so I’m not sure how I’d find anything.
"I want to confront him with as much as possible because I need to know the truth.
Seeking advice, she questioned: "What am I looking for? Where do I look?"
Rushing to the comments, sympathetic users on Mumsnet shared their advice as one person penned: "He's probably given it to her already so there's no point looking. Ask him?"
Another wrote: "Well, it does seem pretty obvious to me what he has done. I'm no expert but I’d get a copy of the receipt.
"Make sure the jewellery was not given to members of his family and then try and go through his phone to see if there are any messages incriminating him," they added.
A third said: "Of course, you don't need any further evidence. This is enough. It's just whether you'll stay firm enough in the face of loads of denials."
