A woman was left stunned after she opened up to her hairdresser about her confidence about her looks and was left with a hones and blunt answer.
The awkward conversation you have with the person with the clippers can be painful at times - what's the right amount of chat? What if you say something wrong and they decide to shave you bald?!
It's not quite as bad as the threat of conversation with the taxi driver, but it's certainly up there.
If you want proof, listen to this one woman's experience of her trip to the salon recently, per the Mirror.
She'd been speaking to her hairdresser about online dating and how she hadn't had many successful ventures using it.
She was looking for reassurance but got more than she bargained for when her hairdresser was less than encouraging.
On a forum, she wrote: "Short back story, I’m in my late 50's and have been single six years since my ex-husband cheated and we divorced.
"We were married nearly 30 years and haven’t dated since. I’m happy with my life but am open to another relationship now.
"I was talking to my hairdresser about online dating and I said I’ve never had much luck as I’m fairly plain looking. She replied 'not every man wants a beautiful woman as they worry another man would try and steal her'.
"On reflection, I’ve read this as whoever dated me wouldn’t have to worry about another man showing interest. Am I being over-sensitive here?"
The post received a mixed response with some saying that if she didn't want the hairdresser to speak candidly about her, then she shouldn't call herself plain.
Someone else said that they thought she had been a bit mean, saying: "You are not being unreasonable, she put her foot in her mouth big time.
