Bob Bryar, the longest-serving drummer of My Chemical Romance, has been found dead at his home in Tennessee at the age of 44, according to reports.
Emergency services discovered his body earlier this week, noting no signs of foul play. His dogs were also rescued from the property.
Bryar joined the band in 2004, replacing founding drummer Matt Pelissier after the release of their second album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.
He became a full-fledged member, playing on tours and contributing to their 2006 album The Black Parade, which catapulted the band to global fame.
Bryar also drummed on the band’s 2010 album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys but left before their disbandment in 2013.
The emo band has not had a full-time drummer since.
According to TMZ, his body was found to be “badly decomposed” and all of his weapons and music equipment at the house were left untouched.
Further examination by US authorities is set to take place.
Bryar left the band in 2010, with tensions cited as the reason, according to the Metro.
“As of four weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly,’ a statement read.
“We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours and expect you all to do the same.”
Bryar has admitted poor mental health and suicidal thoughts in the past. He moved from playing to start a real estate career in 2014 but had cited desires to return to music.
In 2022 he sold his outfit from The Black Parade live shows to raise thousands of dollars for animal charities after Hurricane Ian.
My Chem have toured in recent years but with Jarrod Alexander playing drums. They took in three nights at Milton Keynes Bowl in 2022.
Long Live The Black Parade Tour has been drawn up for 2025 with dates in the US, although no shows have yet been announced for the UK.
The band these days consists of Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Mikey Way, and Frank Iero.
