A mutant baby shark with what appears to be a human face has baffled a fisherman after it was caught off the coast of Indonesia.
The bizarre creature was found by Abdullah Nuren after he set off from Rote Ndao in East Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday February 21.
He accidentally caught a pregnant shark while he was out fishing and she died after getting stuck in the trawler.
Experts have suggested its unique appearance could be due to a rare condition.
Abdullah, 48, noticed the apex predator was pregnant with three pups.
When he cut open its stomach there were two baby sharks inside but the third stood out.
One of them had a distinctive appearance with two large round eyes underneath its nose.

In the video, Abdullah places the baby shark in a paper box and puts him in a position that shows its belly.
The unborn mutant pup has its eyes right under the pointed snout, rather than at its sides.
With its mouth remaining open, it looks like the creature has a human face.
Abdullah said: “I initially found a mother shark caught in the trawler net.
“The next day I split the belly of the mother shark and found three pups in the stomach.
“Two were like the mother and this one that looked like it had a human face.”
Dr David Shiffman, a research scientist at Marine Stewardship Council, said he thought the unique look of the creature was due to a birth defect.
He said: "This is not a thing I study, but some experts I follow are reporting it may be a case of partial Cyclopia (do not Google this while eating) with one fused orbit but still two eyes."
Fisherman Abdullah said he took the baby shark home to his family who helped him to preserve it.
He said neighbours had offered to buy the shark but he refused to sell it.
He added: “My home has been crowded with people who want to see the shark.
“Many people want to buy it, but I will preserve it instead.
“I think it will bring me good luck.”
