Musk gives $75 million to his pro-Trump super PAC

Elon Musk has become a Republican mega-donor.

By the numbers: The world's richest person gave nearly $75 million in three months to his pro-Trump America PAC, FEC filings showed Tuesday.

Why it matters: Musk's donation underscores his commitment efforts to getting the Republican presidential nominee elected next month after saying in March he had no intention of donating money to any presidential campaign.

State of play: Since the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX endorsed Trump moments after the first assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate at a Butler, Pennsylvania, rally in July, the billionaire has donated tens of millions of dollars to his America PAC.

  • The X majority owner was onstage with Trump in Butler as the former president returned to the scene of the shooting to hold another rally earlier this month.
  • Musk also took over the @America username on X to amplify Trump on his platform and attack the Republican's presidential rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

What's next: Musk said on X he would be "giving a series of talks" in the battleground state of Pennsylvania from Wednesday through Monday.

  • "If you'd like to attend one of my talks, there's no attendance fee," Musk said.
  • "You just need to have signed our petition supporting free speech & right to bear arms & have voted in this election. ... in Pennsylvania."
