Castscape, a community of creative practitioners, presents Luna: The Immersive Musical Experience, which is staged daily at 7pm, plus a 1pm matinee on weekends and public holidays, until Jan 28 at EmQuartier's Q Stadium, M floor of Building C, Sukhumvit Road.
Crafted by more than 250 people on the production team, the 2.30-hour show is an officially licensed adaptation of Kelly Barnhill's The Girl Who Drank The Moon, one of the world's top 21st-century juvenile literary winners.
The story tells about Luna who was accidentally given moonshine containing magical powers as a child and has been raised by a witch.
The performance was inspired by the life of Dr Cleopandh Soorapanthu aka Pa Mor, who has run the Chaiyapruk Foundation for more than 37 years to help orphans and other disadvantaged children.
She is determined to care for, encourage and motivate youths from disadvantaged backgrounds to live in society. More than a hundred youths who achieved success in life grew up under her care.
The Q Stadium has been transformed into a show ground for the production where audiences can become active participants by selecting their own walking path through one of more than 10 narratives set to 30 original songs.
Audiences will be immersed in a scene and choose to follow different interesting actors to see the story from that character's point of view. The story has been designed and directed in more than 10 different ways, giving each round's audiences a wide range of choices while on the walk to capture the story.
Tickets cost 1,790 and 1,990 baht for performances in November; and 2,190 and 2,390 baht for shows in December (ticket prices for January shows will be announced later) and can be purchased from ticketmelon.com.
The production is in Thai. It is part of a fundraiser for the Chaiyapruk Foundation. Donations can be made during the last step of ticket purchasing. All contributions will go towards scholarships for orphans and underprivileged youths under the foundation's care.
