Musical favourite School of Rock returning to Dublin's Bord Gais Energy Theatre

Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock has been announced for Dublin's Bord Gais Energy Theatre this summer.

Running from June 21 until July 2, the show is gearing up for its Irish premiere.

Based on the hilarious 2003 film starring Jack Black, the adapted stage musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed wannabe rock star who decides to earn a bit of extra cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.

Taking a class of grade-A students and turning them into guitar shredding, drum pounding rockers, Dewey's journey with the kids is full of laughs as well as heart as he falls for the school’s beautiful yet strict and uptight headmistress.

With an energetic young cast, the roof of The Bord Gais Energy Theatre is set to be raised when School of Rock lands in Dublin.

Cast of School of Rock - The Musical (Paul Costas)

Jake Sharp leads the adult cast as Dewey Finn, having received rave reviews for his portrayal of the character on stage in London's West End.

The show's cast also features twelve "pint-sized prodigies" that will be joining the production for its UK and Ireland tour.

School of Rock - The Musical features new music written by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, Sister Act) and a book by Julian Fellowes. The show debuted at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre in New York in 2015 and ran for more than three years, picking up four Tony nominations along the way.

It transferred to London in late 2016 and ran for over three years at the New London Theatre, winning an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music.

Tickets start at €21 and are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
