Murder victim named, Man left with brain damage and DWP cost of living payment dates

Murder victim, 22, named after being shot dead in Dingle

The man who was killed after being shot in Dingle has been named.

Merseyside police have confirmed that Sam Rimmer, 22, died after being shot in the chest, at around 11.40pm on Tuesday, August 16. Sam, from Bootle, had been with a group of friends in cul-de-sac Lavrock Bank when suspects shot at them.

Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen, said: "This was a despicable attack which led to the death of a young man who had the rest of his life ahead of him. That life has tragically been cut short and his family are desperately trying to come to terms with their loss.

"We need to find those responsible and I would ask members of the public who may have information which could help us bring those people to justice to put themselves in the shoes of Sam's family and think about what they are going through and the pain this has caused them.

Man left brain damaged by punch after city centre attack

A man suffered brain damage after being attacked in Liverpool city centre.

Police were called to reports that a man, in his 30s, had been punched in the face after an argument with a suspect. The incident happened at Clayton Square, near Flannels, at around 10.50pm on Saturday, July 2.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: "This was a violent attack that has left a man with serious brain damage which he is continuing to recover from. We think the man pictured may have vital information to help our enquiries so if you know him, please come forward."

DWP cost of living payment dates for the rest of 2022 and who is eligible

Millions will receive the cost of living payments over the next few months.

The first instalment (£326) of the £650 has already been received by some eligible people from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). A second payment of £324 is due to land in accounts this autumn.

The Daily Record reports people claiming Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will receive their payment of £326 in September, with the second round of support due to be made in the winter. Other payments landing in accounts between September and this winter include £150 for people on disability benefits, £300 added to Winter Fuel Payments for pensioner households and the £400 energy bill rebate.
