Teen savagely attacked on birthday trip to watch Liverpool FC
A teenager suffered a broken jaw in a "completely unprovoked attack" after going to watch Liverpool FC play at Anfield.
The 17-year-old came to Liverpool with his girlfriend from Shropshire on Wednesday, April 13, after she surprised him with tickets to watch Liverpool play Benfica in the Champions League ahead of his 18th birthday. The pair came back into the city centre after full time and went to a restaurant close to the hotel where they were staying.
On their way back to the Mercure Hotel on Chapel Street the 17-year-old started talking to a man, described as being in his 30s, about football. After waking away, the victim's dad, who asked to remain anonymous, said his son was "savaged" by his attacker, who hit him in the face over and over again at around 11pm.
