Murder probe launched after toddler killed in lorry crash with dad

A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a two-year-old girl who died alongside her dad in a horror crash.

Police say they are treating Oria Henry's death as a murder investigation following "careful consideration".

Little Oria was travelling with her dad Ashley Henry, 35, in a Blue Nissan Qashqai on Sunday, around 2.45pm, when it collided with a lorry in Anwick, Lincolnshire.

Sadly, neither could be saved and were pronounced dead at the scene, the Mirror reports.

It is not known if anyone in the lorry sustained serious injuries.

In a public Facebook post, Oria's mum Rachel changed her profile picture to an image of herself and a toddler as she shared Lincolnshire Police's Facebook post, writing "My baby" with a crying emoji and a broken heart emoji.

Family and friends shared their heartfelt condolences on the open post and paid tribute.

One woman posted: "I cannot imagine the pain you are feeling right now. My heart breaks for you."

Another said: "You’ve been in my mind all day today and yesterday. I can’t begin to imagine what you’re going through and having to find a new way of living.

"You have terrific fight and dignity and beauty inside and out, and I can only imagine how much your daughter Oria was so adored by you and your family."

Another friend shared: "My heart really bleeds for you, I could never imagine the pain you must be feeling."

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Constabulary said the force is not looking for anyone else in connection with the crash.

"We have launched a murder investigation after a fatal collision between a lorry and a car in Anwick," the spokesperson continued.

"Driver Ashley Henry, 35, and passenger Oria Henry, 2, from Leicester were travelling along Main Road in a Blue Nissan Qashqai when the incident took place at around 2.45pm on Sunday, 18 June.

"Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

"Our investigation into the incident continues but after careful consideration we can confirm we have begun a murder investigation into the death of two-year-old Oria."

The collision happened around five miles outside Sleaford, Lincolnshire, a market town largely surrounded by countryside.

The police statement continued: "Our thoughts remain with the family of those who lost their lives in this collision and specialist officers are supporting them at this difficult time.

"If you have information that may help us in our enquiries, contact the force control room on 101 quoting incident number 264 of 18 June."
