Murder probe launched after man found dead in Southall

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of his death (PA) - (PA Wire)

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead at a property in Southall, west London.

Officers were called to Samara Drive at 10.56am on Wednesday following concerns for the welfare of a man.

London Ambulance Service paramedics attended but the man, believed to be in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances of his death is under way and the Metropolitan Police said it is being treated as suspicious.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “We are in the very early stages of our investigation and my team of experienced detectives and forensic specialists are working at pace to establish the circumstances of this death.

“I can understand that this may be concerning for the community in Southall, who can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as we begin our investigation.”

Police said efforts are ongoing to identify and inform the man’s next of kin.

A 54-year-old man from Southall was arrested on suspicion of murder and preventing a lawful burial on Wednesday.

He remains in custody.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact police on 101 quoting CAD2369/23APR or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
