A Lifetime original thriller is practically a movie genre in and of itself and tonight, a new title will be entering into that fan-favorite film category. Capping off the network's "Secrets on Maple Street" movie trilogy — including Lies and Ex-Wives: Secrets on Maple Street and A Family Nightmare: Secrets on Maple Street, which premiered on the channel on July 14 and July 21, respectively — Murder for Mortgage: Secrets on Maple Street will premiere on Lifetime on Sunday, July 28 at 8pm Eastern Time.
The 90-minute mystery film stars Frances Leigh (The Flash, Arrow) and Thomas Cadrot (Scream VI, So Help Me Todd) as a young couple, Carlee and Alex, who jump at the change to buy a home on the idyllic Maple Street at a discounted rate after the mysterious death of its owner, the neighborhood's nosiest busybody.
"Soon, however, strange occurrences lead Carlee to suspect that there was more to old woman’s death than meets the eye, and that what she and her husband don’t know might have put them in a very dangerous position," reads the official synopsis, per Lifetime. Was the neighbor's death really a suicide, or is Maple Street home to far more sinister secrets than those real-estate listings suggest?
Alongside Leigh and Cadrot, the cast includes Farrah Aviva as Ellen Tolbert, Shiraine Haas as Dina Perkins and Johnny V Wright as Mr. Hopkins. Murder for Mortgage: Secrets on Maple Street was directed by Paula Elle (Just in Time, When Mom Becomes a Murderer) and written by Adam Rockoff (Couples Retreat Murder, Fatal Fixer Upper).
