A man has been arrested in connection with the death of Neil Wilson, also known as Neil Canney, in Greenock on Tuesday.
Police have this evening confirmed a 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged shooting of Canney who was attacked on his doorstep.
Emergency services were called to Nairn Road around 1.15am on Tuesday after the 37-year-old was found seriously injured.
He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but sadly could not be saved and died a short time later.
Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
A Police Scotland statement said: "A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Neil Canney in Greenock.
"The 37-year-old was found seriously injured in Nairn Road around 1.15am on Tuesday, 28 February 2023.
"He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died a short time later.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
