A 22-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder after the death of a two-month-old baby in Cairns in June, 2021.
Queensland police first became aware of the matter when the boy was taken to Cairns Hospital in a critical condition on June 6, 2021.
The baby was then airlifted to Townsville University Hospital where he later died.
Investigations with assistance from the Child Trauma Task Force led to the accused man being charged on January 29.
It will be alleged the infant was in his sole company at a Woree home.
The man appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded in custody to reappear on March 30, police said.
