Munster's promising flanker Jack Daly suffered an ACL injury late on in last Saturday's URC loss to Leinster.
The province have revealed the news that Daly, who had only recently returned from an ankle injury, will now see a specialist and will be out for an extended period of time.
The Kerryman is one of four Reds to have suffered injuries in Saturday's disappointing loss to their below strength rivals at the Aviva Stadium, and Jean Kleyn and Andrew Conway are now facing a race against time to be fit for Friday week's URC quarter-final clash at Ulster.
Kleyn sustained a neck injury and has undergone a scan. Munster say it is not a long-term injury.
Conway, meanwhile, aggravated a previous knee injury and will be assessed this week with a view to the big Kingspan Stadium encounter.
Meanwhile young back row Alex Kendellen was removed following his HIA and will undergo the return to play protocols.
In better news for Johann van Graan, skipper Peter O'Mahony, Damian de Allende and Simon Zebo returned to full training this week, while Craig Casey and Stephen Archer will return this week after illness.
