A week after the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra, the city police’s control room received a call from an unknown person stating that members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang would arrive at Dadar railway station to execute a “major incident” in Mumbai.
Although the caller did not name Mr. Khan as the potential victim, police officials said that the threat was being analysed seriously, and added that “an investigation is underway”.
Although no arrests have been made in this regard as yet, the Mumbai Police, along with Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force, have scanned the areas in and around the railway station premises.
Meanwhile, on Friday, under heavy security presence, Mr. Khan left his Bandra residence for Dubai. This was after investigative agencies had suggested that Mr. Khan relocate from his Galaxy Apartments home to another location in the aftermath of the incident on Sunday.
Police had said they were probing the Bishnoi gang’s role in the firing incident after a Facebook post taking responsibility for the attack, created in the name of Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of the jailed gangster, surfaced after the incident. The two miscreants who fired on Sunday were arrested within 48 hours.
Man arrested for booking cab in Lawrence Bishnoi’s name
In an parallel development, the police on Friday night arrested a suspect who had allegedly booked a cab on Wednesday under the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
On Wednesday, Rohit Tyagi of Gaziabad allegedly booked a cab online for a journey from Galaxy Apartments, Khan’s residence, to the Bandra police station. When the cab driver reached the address, he realised that it was a prank, and lodged a complaint.
Mr. Tyagi was picked up by the U.P. Police, and during interrogation confessed to having played a prank. He has been booked for creating nuisance and public mischief.
