Mum who went viral after sports day mishap is 'still turning down date offers'

A viral mum said she's still turning down dates from men who watched her faceplant during a sports day race - and won't be running this year. Katie Hannaford, 37, has turned down "hundreds of offers of dates" since the video emerged last summer - and still gets daily messages from strangers.

The mum-of-two has vowed never to compete in a parents' sports day race again. She was convinced to run by her youngest daughter last June - and was left red-faced when she tripped and her dress flew up over her head.

In the weeks which followed the sports day, she got more than 500 messages from men all over the world questioning how she could be single. She still receives messages every day from people all over the world - the majority of them from men. She said she is now "single by choice" and has turned down "hundreds of offers of dates" - but has no regrets about sharing her hilarious mishap.

Katie, a home décor business owner, said: "I don't get recognised in public any more, but I still get random messages on Instagram and Facebook most days. They're predominantly men - asking how I'm still single, or telling me I have a nice a***.

"At this point I'm still single by choice - I've had hundreds of offers of dates off the back of the video! I've had some genuinely nice messages too - saying I'm a good sport about it.

"My daughters still find it funny and it still makes me laugh when I watch it too. My youngest daughter wants me to be in all her TikTok videos because she thinks I'm famous! But I've promised them I'll never compete in another adults' race again, even in shorts."

The embarrassing fall happened during the parents' race at her daughter's sports day on June 15, 2022. Footage of the event circulated on social media - because during the race she faceplanted and inadvertently showed off her bum for the entire crowd.

Katie, from Basildon, Essex, said: "A few weeks ago at my daughter’s dance competition, and there was a parents' dance. I looked at my daughter like, ‘no I'm not doing it!'.
