Being a wedding guest can be expensive, especially if you've got to pay for travel, accommodation, and a new outfit. But one savvy shopper may have just found the solution in the form of nightwear.
Sara Rochford, 37, has revealed how she wowed at a family wedding wearing a £20 Primark nightie. The mum was blown away last month when she spotted the floral number, which is part of the store's 'Bridgerton' range.
Convinced that the nightdress was "too nice to wear to bed", she decided to wear the pyjamas to a wedding on May 29. So the creative mum-of-two accessorised with a pink bag, hat and shoes.
As a result, the savvy shopper wowed at the event, and she's glad she put her trust in the nightie rather than the £80 outfit she'd picked out for the occasion.
Sara, from Leigh, Greater Manchester, said: "I've never done this before, but I'm so glad I did. I'll absolutely do this again in the future, if I find something similar."
She added: "I didn't touch the dress; I didn't alter it whatsoever. I just added pink accessories that I already had. I felt lovely in it. I was really happy with how it looked."
Her stylish choice went down a treat with guests, too. "I got a couple of compliments and people told me that the dress looked beautiful. No one actually asked where it was from."
Sara also purchased a snakeskin Primark nightie that she plans to style for a night out in the coming weeks, and she thinks she could be onto something.
"I'd usually buy Zara or Chi Chi London dresses for weddings, and it's like a fraction of the price of those," she claimed.
"If people out there have got the confidence to do what I've done and they're on a tight budget, then I absolutely [would recommend this to other women].
"I feel like this is a good way to find nice, affordable outfits during the cost-of-living crisis." And it looks like social media users agree. When Sara shared a snap of her dress on Facebook, the post received hundreds of likes, comments and shares from impressed fashionistas.
"You look stunning. That absolutely does not look like a nightie," wrote one. A second said: "Omg you look beautiful, would never have guessed [where it was from]. I need to get my butt to Primark."
Another put: "Love it! I need to try and find this one too."
