A woman has asked people for their opinions after she was left feeling a charity shop assistant made a dig directed at her after while she looked at some tops in the store.
The woman claims she had gone into the charity shop and was looking at their range of clothes when the assistant came over to explain their return policy, but the woman was not happy and felt the sentiment behind the explanation was offensive and a dig at her.
In response, many have said the woman was being "unreasonable" and is likely just thinking too much about it as it was not an offensive comment but probably just a bit clumsy from the assistant.
Taking to Mumsnet, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "Probably a non-issue but feel like this was a dig at me and I want to get other opinions.
"Went to a local charity shop this morning and I picked up two nice tops. The shop assistant came over to me and said 'just to let you know you can try those on if you like or if you want to take them home and try them on then we offer 30 days to get a refund if they don't fit'."
But it was the next part of the explanation which angered the customer.
The woman recalled the rest of the explanation: "Just in case you get home and realise they make you look like a sack of potatoes, it's happened to me before'."
The customer felt this was a slight dig directed at her as she felt the assistant was insinuating what the tops might have looked like on her. But many of those commenting on the post disagreed.
One person wrote: "She was just letting you know they can be returned. I very much doubt she tried to visualise you in the tops."
While another stated: "Really? You took offence at that? It's not a dig at all."
A third penned: "I think she was trying to be helpful."
Someone else suggested it was just a "clumsy" way of phrasing something helpful from the shop assistant.
