Mum sparks debate after asking husband to save her instead of newborn baby

A woman has opened up a very difficult conversation about her personal wishes should a doctor ever give her husband a devastating choice to make while she's giving birth.

Mum Anabel has now gone viral after stating that she would rather her husband save her, not their baby, should grave complications ever arise during childbirth, as heartbreaking as that choice may be.

In a TikTok video that has clocked up 6.6 million views and counting, Anabel addressed her husband directly, explaining that she just wouldn't want him left alone to care for their two young children without her by his side, all while dealing with profound grief at the loss of his wife.

In a moving letter written over footage from a delivery room, Anabel, who goes by the TikTok username @anabelmoralezz, expressed her wishes to her husband.

She wrote: "To my husband. If I'm giving birth, and the doctor says you need to pick between me or the baby. Please save me. I don’t want Ethan to grow up without a mum, and I don't want you to have to raise two babies alone while also grieving your wife."

The video resonated with a number of people, many of whom could completely understand where Anabel was coming from.

One fellow parent commented: "I used to say save the baby not me. Now that I have a daughter, I think so differently!"

Another sympathised: "Currently pregnant with our second and had this same exact conversation. 100% agree!"

Others remarked upon what an impossibly hard choice this would be, while a third person revealed how a friend of theirs had been 'picked' as a baby over her mother, and that they had carried the 'burden' of this for their entire life.
