A woman has called out a "jobsworth" bus driver after he refused to let her elderly father on the bus.
Taking to parenting forum Mumsnet, she revealed that the 85-year-old was not permitted onto the vehicle as his bus pass "wasn't registering".
Rather than let the elderly man on the bus regardless, the driver told him to get off and he was forced to "go home to get his wallet".

Explaining the situation, she wrote: "My dad is 85. He has a bus pass. He was coming to my house last night for tea. He got on bus and his pass wouldn't work (it has a tiny rip). It was valid for two years still. Normally you tap your pass and they let you on."
She continued: "Obviously when he was tapping it wasn't registering. So he had to get off and go home to get his wallet. He was coming to mine so didn't think he needed anything but his pass. It made zero difference to that bus driver. Am I being unreasonable to think it's a s****y thing to do to an elderly man?"
Before long, the post had received dozens of replies from fellow Mumsnet users. The majority were in agreement that the driver's actions were "horrible".
One said: "That was a mean thing to do." A second echoed: "Yes it was horrible. I would complain."
A third agreed: "Yes it's a very mean thing to do to a very elderly man. You could write to the bus company to express your disappointment, even if they don't respond or dismiss it."
"Damn right I'd complain, your poor dad," shared another.
However, others felt that bus driver was just doing his job, with one commenting: "On the face of it, you are not being unreasonable, but the bus driver doesn't necessarily have the power to allow people on without a valid pass or ticket. Bus drivers can get into trouble if they are caught allowing this to happen."
A second shared: "I don’t know, I think it should be the same rule for all passengers I often see the bus driver refusing to let school children on as they’ve lost their pass but it’s clear they are children and even dressed in uniform but drivers are happy to tell them they can’t get on."
