Mum slammed for buying three trolleys full of Christmas gifts for daughter

A woman in Australia has been slammed online for buying her daughter three shopping trolleys worth of Christmas gifts.

The mum, Casey Burnett, took to a Facebook group to show off the huge haul of toys she had bought her 4 year old daughter from the Australian shopping chain, Big W.

Sharing pictures of the trolleys that were each filled to the brim with toys, including Play-Dough, cuddly toys and even a mini-trampoline, she commented, "So excited to put them with the rest of the presents I have already got her."

But the mum was met with harsh criticism from fellow members of the group - which is dedicated to the store chain where she bought all the presents and toys.

One parent fumed: "Is this seriously all for one kid?"

A second said: "My kids get a fraction of that. We don’t want them to be expecting heaps of presents each time."

Another questioned whether the child would be overwhelmed with so many presents saying: "My kids wouldn't know what to do with them all."

With Australia also experiencing a cost-of-living crisis with falling wages and rising inflation, just like the UK, many mums and dads are struggling at the moment - especially during the festive period.

One struggling parent commented: "Just a reminder to the families like myself who are having money problems or things they need to pay instead.

"That Christmas is about coming together with family and enjoying a hot meal, I’m sure kids would be fine with a few presents each.

"The economy is so s**t at the moment."

However, Casey also received support on the group with some coming to her defence.

"Whatever floats your boat," said another user.

One joked: "I feel so stingy now. If you can afford it, who cares."

"You’ve got a very lucky daughter!" commented someone else."

Big W is among retailers which offers a pay-now-pay-later scheme.
