A mum was shocked when her toddler returned to the kitchen from playing in the garden - holding a live mouse. Annie Duthie, 25, filmed Hollie, two, proudly showing the "friend" she'd found while digging in the garden in Leicester.
The video shows Annie's horror as realised the mouse was still alive - and it started to run around the home. Annie, a mum of three, said: "I could see her playing in the garden while I was folding washing at the back door.
"I saw her come up to me holding something and she just said 'mouse' - I thought it was dead! She was holding it so casually like it wasn't alive - I thought there was no way.
"Until she put it down on the floor, and it started running around! I was mildly horrified - even then, she didn't even want to let it go, she wanted to keep it as a pet.
"I had this mouse running around my house which I then had to catch again, with Hollie going 'mouse mouse!'" The mother-daughter duo gave the mouse a little snack before releasing it safely back to freedom.
Annie, who filmed the incident last autumn, said: "I couldn't believe it - how does a two year old even catch a live mouse? Even now, I have no idea.
"She just has a way of getting into these situations. She's not scared of anything. Hollie is definitely a free spirit."
