Mum shares Christmas morning 'lifesaver' kit if you've got excited kids

A woman has revealed a couple of essential items she keeps on hand for Christmas morning which she's hailed as her 'lifesavers' when dealing with excited children.

The joy of Santa visiting and bringing plenty of presents is enough to make any youngster go wild, so in order to make the rest of the day run smoothly, there are a few things you can put together in preparation for the madness.

TikTokker @muddlethroughmummy often shares helpful parenting tips and advice thanks to her own experiences of raising two young boys, and one of her latest videos about the excitement of Christmas morning has been well received by other parents facing the same situation.

In the video, the woman revealed what she was putting in her kit and the reasoning behind each item.

Starting off with a packet of Sharpie pens, she said: "This might sound weird, but if you have more than one child like me, perhaps they're getting the same gift, like this Mega Sketcher. Heaven forbid you forget whose is whose - this way, you can write their name on it."

Then she showed off a roll of bin bags "for all the mess that's going to be created", explaining that she keeps a separate one for recycling so she can easily empty it in the appropriate bin later.

Next up was a packet of resealable sandwich bags. The woman said: "This one might sound extra, but hear me out.

"If you have little kids that are into Playmobil, Barbie, Lego, anything that comes with loads of little pieces, and you know later on they're going to want to play with it, you can stick each set in a bag."

Christmas morning is a day where all rules go out the window, and so chocolate for breakfast is highly encouraged. To help with any mess, the mum included a pack of baby wipes in her "life-saving" kit.

And of course, children's toys are likely to require batteries to work, so the woman was sure to include a couple of packs of varying types.

The final items items were a pair of scissors, a pen and paper to keep track of who had given which gift, and a "multi tool" that the mum explained was a "new addition" for this year.

Showing off the small tool, she explained that it contained a knife, screwdrivers and even pliers - so you can ensure you're prepared for opening any gift. She'd managed to fit all the items in a small and handy storage box, ready for Christmas morning.

The video's comments were full of people praising the woman for her "smart" idea - even those who didn't have any kids of their own.

"Thanks for the reminder!!" someone said, while another added: "This had just saved me a lotta hassle, I'm gonna have to do this."

"Sandwich bags and batteries are a must have!" a third commented.

And a fourth joked: "I literally watch these videos so intently like I'm not 19 with no kids."

Will you be trying out the "lifesaver" kit this Christmas? Let us know in the comments.
