A mum saved for a whole year so both of her children could attend their school proms.
The Whiston mum, who has asked not to be named, has a 11-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter who both had proms within weeks of each other.
Speaking to the ECHO, she said: "I thought my son's prom was expensive enough. He wasn't too bothered about his outfit so managed to save a bit there but the mum's group decided to book a limo for an hour before the prom starting at £37 per head.

"Then an after party was planned which cost a further £30 per head so my son's prom was £67 before even thinking about the outfit."
"My daughter cost considerably more, maybe because she's a girl so the outfit was more important. We had to book a private appointment to go and try on prom dresses, with the cheapest one costing around £60. In the end she picked one that was £125 for just the dress."
She added: "She then wanted to be booked in for a full beauty package, you know, tan, nails, hair, make-up. The works really. Luckily we found a local salon doing an offer so she got tan, nails and make up for £50. For the hair, we've booked a mate to do a hair-up for a tenner.
"Her shoes and bag have also cost just shy of £100, so in total her prom has cost me and her dad around £275. Her group of friends were also looking at a limo and an afterparty so we're just waiting to find out how much we need to pay in to that."
Although it has been costly, the mum believes it will all be worth it so the children will have memories to last a lifetime.
She said: "I've saved up for over a year for this because I knew it would be costly and so they could both have anything they asked for. I just want them to have a good time."
Another mum, Natalie, from Prescot, contacted the ECHO via Facebook, is a mum-of-two with one child currently in year six.
She said: "While I am all for the kids having a boss time, it doesn't need to come at a high cost. I got my son fully suited and booted from H&M for less than £50. He's only in year six so isn't currently bothered about brands and what not but he said he wanted to look like someone off 'Men in Black', like a 'cool dude'.
"I have paid for him to go in a limo though as the whole class is going and the thought of him being left out breaks my heart. But, had it been up to me, if nothing was organised then we would have just walked to the prom as normal. I feel like if everyone is doing something though then the pressure is on a bit, which isn't fair to those of us who struggle with money."
