A mum has criticised KFC after slow service at the restaurant left her with a £100 parking fine.
Carolyn Bentham, 47, left her vehicle in the KFC's car park when she took her two children - aged three and 10 months - to the supposedly "fast food" chain in Accrington for lunch on July 1.
The trio went into the restaurant just before 1.30pm and ordered their food but it did not arrive until 2.05pm.
Once Carolyn's children had eaten their meals and were safely back in the car along with the pram, her vehicle had been parked for 10 minutes over the one-hour time limit.
The mum-of-two was enraged to learn that she would be slapped with a £100 fine.
The fast food giant later apologised to Carolyn for the inconvenience that was caused and confirmed that it had called off the fine.
She told the Lancashire Telegraph : “This is absolutely not my fault and I should not have to pay this fine.
“There was no way I was going to get my children fed and in the car safely in the 20 minutes I had left."
She fumed: “It’s ended up costing me more than £100 to have a meal out with my children.”
Quoted in The Scottish Sun, a KFC spokesperson said: “To help keep things running smoothly, we do have some parking limits in place, but what happened to Carolyn wasn’t great.
"We’re really sorry and we’ve been in touch with her to make things right and cancel the fine."
Meanwhile it was reported on Friday that KFC branches have reported running out of chicken - forcing the chain to pause one of its weekly food offers.
The fast food company reportedly issued a memo to all branches claiming the WOW Tuesday offer would be paused due to a lack of chicken on the bone.
The meal also comes with a side order of beans and a can of Pepsi Max - but fans will have to wait at least another week to see if the deal is resumed.
In the memo issued to branches, management said: "Due to the shortage of COB [chicken on the bone], we are again pausing the WOW Tuesday offer.
"We will confirm our position for the remainder of the window once we have confirmed supply."
