With Christmas just around the corner, parents up and down the country are in full festive swing as they try to make the holiday season magical for their little ones. The much-loved Elf on the Shelf toy is known for its cheeky appearances and tricks, but one mum's attempt to stage some elf-created 'snow angels' in her room has massively backfired.
Initially, the excited mother thought she had come up with a 'great idea' for a prank for her daughter's elf toy - but she did not think about the aftermath of her brilliant plan. She emptied a load of bean bag balls all over her daughter's room and put the elf in the middle of the 'snow', the Mirror reports.
However, it was only after she carried out the practical joke she realised how much of a big clean-up mission she had been left with. She took to a Mrs Hinch Facebook Group page for cleaning tips as she shared her mistake to find out if any other prankster mums had shot themselves in the foot with their kid's Elf on the Shelf tricks.
In the post, she wrote: "So we thought it was a great idea for the pesky elves to make it snow. Snow is the little balls you find in bean bags.
"2.5 bags in and we're still nowhere near tidying. I have a Henry hoover with a detachable bag, any of you lovely lot have any suggestions of a way I can use Henry to quickly and efficiently tidy this up.

"Not sure if a carrier bag on the nozzle will melt in the heat or what, Thank you!!!"
She was met with other users who admitted to having dealt with the same problem before as they wished her 'good luck' with the strenuous task of cleaning it up.

One person wrote: "My little girl emptied a bean bag all over her bedroom. Took me hours to clean up and was still finding them a year later. I wanted to cry. Good luck x"
While another said: "Just so you know, my kids emptied out one of these a year ago. And I'm still finding them. And we've moved house since."
A third added: "I broke my Henry hoover hoovering these up! They went into the electrical mechanism."
