Mum's cute TikTok tribute to midwife after dad sleeps in and misses baby daughter's birth

A mum has created a sweet video thanking a midwife after her partner slept in and missed the birth.

Megan Burns had planned to blog her labour at Wishaw General Hospital, but things didn't go quite to plan when she delivered baby Gabriella after just an hour and a half.

Sadly her boyfriend slept through the drama, and with only mum Fiona by her side, the 23-year-old handed her phone to student midwife Joanna Murray asking her to take lots of pictures, the Daily Record reports.

Megan, from Hamilton, never forgot the medic's kindness and decided to take part in a TikTok trend where users post a memory of someone they will never forget.

She immediately thought of Joanna and used the pictures taken on the day to create a heartwarming tribute.

The video, now viewed over 150,000 times, eventually reached Joanna who was delighted.

Speaking to the Record, Megan said: "I am pretty obsessed with TikTok and I'm always thinking of new videos I can make.

"I seen people doing the trend and I thought I could that that with the photos Joanna had taken.

"I initially planned to blog the birth, but that didn't go as planned so I handed her my phone and asked her to take lots of photos. She was so lovely.

"My mum was my birthing partner because my boyfriend slept in for the birth.

"I didn't think the video would reach her at all, but I had in my notes her name was Joanna so I wrote that in case she didn't remember me.

"She saw the TikTok and knew exactly who we were and exactly what birth it was. She said Gabriella was her 18th baby and I thought that was really cute she remembered the number.

"Lots of people have been commenting on the TikTok. They couldn't believe I managed to find her and the video reached her."

After viewing the TikTok, Joanna commented: "So glad I came across this, what a lovely post.

"Gabriella was my 18th delivery and one I'll never forget."

The comment has now been liked over one thousand times as app users were delighted the pair had been reunited through the power of social media.

One person said: "Crying at this and how you've found her."

Another added: "I loved my first experience in Wishaw General back in 2019 with my little girl. I had a student midwife named Emily and I named my daughter after her."

A third wrote: "This is so sweet."
