Mum raves about 'magical' weekend at Southport Pontins

A mum has said she had such a "magical" time at Southport Pontins, her children "didn't want to come home".

The woman visited the holiday park earlier this month with her three sons, her friend, and her friend's children.

Southport Pontins has had something of a bad reputation over the years, with a string of not-great reviews meaning the park has just a 2 out of five star rating on Tripadvisor.

Tripadvisor reviewer Adele W, however, was more than impressed. She said: "We came at the weekend with my boys, my friend and her three 3 children, and what an absolute magical time we had."

Pontins is currently offering a "Dreamland" experience for Christmas, with "festive activities and entertainment", including a petting farm and a grotto.

The mum said her boys "loved it".

Her review continued: "Dreamland was just amazing from start to finish, so well organised and my boys loved every minute of it.

"The grotto was truly heart warming an set up lovely, the entertainment was priceless and we had the best breakfast party I have ever been to.

"My boys didn't want to come home and are already asking if we can go back.

"Pontins you all absolutely smashed it, thank you for starting Christmas in our family for us .....magical."

Another recent review, from a user named Deborah, gave the park a four out of five star rating, and called it an "amazing Christmas experience".

But not all recent guests have been as impressed.

One reviewer, Steve H from Blackpool, said the rooms are "filthy".

Part of his Tripadvisor review said: "Rooms are filthy and would hate to see what a blue light would bring up.

"The beer is flat and overpriced, it's appalling. If I could give it a minus figure I would."

Another review said the park "looked derelict" and that their chalet "hadn't been cleaned for months".

Pontins owners Britannia were approached for comment but had not responded by the time of publication.
