A mum has raved over a cheap product that is designed to quickly ease hayfever symptoms as the Met Office warns a pollen bomb will bring misery to sufferers this week.
The mum praised a pack of hay fever relief wipes that she bought at budget high street retailer Savers, which are said to "remove and trap pollen" from the face and hands, reports The Mirror.
Savers are currently selling the wipes - which are made by Nuage - online for just 89p, and a description of the product on the website reads: "These incredible hayfever relief wipes from Nuage help trap Pollen and prevent it from reaching the eyes, working miracles to relieve and prevent hay fever symptoms.
"These are the best and most effective option for instant hay fever relief, as they work straight away to relieve symptoms, unlike traditional hay fever medication."
The pack contains 30 wipes, and the product is said to work wonders for those who suffer from dust and pet allergies, as well as pollen-related illnesses.
In a post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page, the mum praised the wipes as she said they were instrumental in helping her son get his "life back" after being knocked down by pollen allergies.
She wrote: "Just a tip for anyone who suffers badly from hay fever. My son has tried everything going but these wipes gave him his life back! The wipes are soaked in peppermint and tea tree oil so really soothe the skin and eyes and trap the pollen."
As well as Savers, Nuage hay fever relief wipes are also available at Sainsbury's, Asda, and The Range for £1, while Amazon stocks a three-pack for £3.49, or a five-pack for £5.49.
Similar wipes are available in some retailers for as little as 49p
Reviewers on Amazon have also praised them, with some describing them as being "amazing" and "refreshing".
One person wrote: "Bought for my dad who suffers from hay fever works really well."
Another said: "Works amazing! Most of my family have really bad hay fever and it works like magic! The wipes have a really nice smell that somehow gets rid of hay fever! Strongly recommend."
A pollen bomb refers to a sudden and large release of pollen into the air, typically by trees, grasses, or other plants that produce pollen. It can occur during the pollen season, which is the time of year when plants release pollen for fertilization, and is often associated with increased allergy symptoms in susceptible individuals.
Pollen bombs can be triggered by various factors, such as weather conditions like strong winds, dry spells followed by rain, or changes in temperature. These factors can cause plants to release large amounts of pollen all at once, resulting in a concentrated burst of pollen in the air.
Pollen bombs can be particularly troublesome for people with pollen allergies, as the sudden increase in pollen concentration can lead to heightened allergic reactions, such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and other allergy symptoms.
