Mum praised for genius £2.50 hack to stop McDonald's spilling in car

If you have children, you don't need me to tell you how messy they can be. Even the best-behaved tot makes a mess from time to time (read: all of the time), and that's before you add food into the mix.

Luckily, for fast food and takeaway fans, a mum has shared the genius trick she uses to prevent dinner from spilling all over her car.

The tip, which is sure to go down a treat with parents everywhere, is cheap to implement too. All you need is a £2.50 art caddy.

Explaining how she repurposes the storage trays in a post to TikTok as @majorbuncehome, the mum revealed: "This is one of my favourite Mum hacks for the car."

She went on to demonstrate how she uses the art caddies to separate out food and to help prevent mess when her family enjoys a takeaway.

"Whether you're travelling for a family holiday, or you're coming back from swimming, they go on top of each other so they pack away nice and neatly and don't take up room in the car," the parent said.

She added that they also work well for snacks you've brought from home, before handing out the caddies to a trio of smiling kids.

In response, parents were quick to praise the idea, with many keen to try it out for themselves.

"What a great idea!" one person wrote. Meanwhile, others said their family needs to implement the same idea.

If you're planning to make use of the idea on your next visit to McDonald's, however, you might want to take note of one worker's revelation.

An employee has revealed that she hates serving people Happy Meals at the drive-thru, as people often forget to give all of the information servers need.

Carina Angelica, who posts on TikTok as @carina.angelica_, explained that parents need to clarify whether their kids want four or six nuggets when they opt for this choice. Likewise, it is important to note whether you're looking for fries or apple slices with the meal.

"I can't send your order until everything is checked off," she warned.
