A mum claims she was stopped in her tracks on the school run by "disgusting" fly tipping.
The mum, who asked not to be named, was reportedly taking her children to school, when they opted to take a shortcut by St Anne's School in Sutton, through a small wooded area just off Peckers Hill Road. The family said they regularly take the shortcut as it cuts off time on their journey.
However, their trip was interrupted on Tuesday, March 7, as they were met with a huge pile of tyres and a mattress dumped in the woods, which the mum fears could be used to start a fire.

She said: "It just annoys me, where the mattress is there is one underneath it that was set on fire not long ago and it was alight when we were on the school run, it’s dangerous.
"Not only that, a group cleared the rubbish, so all their hard work has gone to waste. And we had to back the pram up to go on a different route which is very hard to do. It’s hard just going over there as it is with a pram."
Pictures of the pile of waste were shared to social media, where many people shared their views in the comments. One person said: "That's absolutely disgusting, what annoys me is they get away with it."
While another added: "I'd clear it for free if the council would let me in the household recycling centre to tip it. It's horrendous how much fly tipping is happening everywhere around."
St Helens Borough Council has been approached for comment.
