A hero mum rescued her one-year-old baby from her car as thieves tried to steal it on the school run. The quick-thinking woman, in her 30s, bravely pulled the tot from the car after her keys were snatched from her hand shortly after 9am yesterday.
Police said the robbery unfolded as she was dropping her children off at school in the Alexandra area of Oldham, Gtr Manchester. The one-year-old child was unharmed after they were brought to safety.
The thieves later made off in the direction of Belgrave Road and turned left onto Scottfield Road, where nearby officers caught sight of their car. It is believed that two males ran off from the scene, with officers arresting one 15-year-old juvenile on suspicion of robbery following a foot chase.
He remains in police custody for questioning. The vehicle was seized for forensic recovery and the victim continues to be supported by officers, police confirmed.
Chief Inspector Abi Cronin, of Greater Manchester Police’s Oldham District, said inquiries were ongoing into the vehicle theft. She said: “Our enquiries are continuing in regard to this investigation and we will not stop until all those who we believe are responsible have been brought to justice.
"Although we have made one arrest in relation to this incident, our enquiries are very much ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact us with any details they may have that could be relevant to this investigation."
