The mum of a young Edinburgh woman who died suddenly just days before her 24th birthday has been left “devastated” by the tragic loss.
Carla Maria Black, who is originally from South Queensferry, sadly passed away at the weekend leaving her friends and family shattered by her death.
The 23-year-old, who has two young children herself, is set to be remembered at a special gathering on Cramond beach at 4pm on February 21.
Pals have rallied round the family and are set to release balloons and cannons in memory of their “caring” friend on what should have been her birthday.

A source close to her family said: "Her mother is absolutely devastated at the loss of her loving daughter. She leaves behind two beautiful children and three brothers. "
Dozens of heartfelt tributes have poured in for Carla on social media as news of tragic passing spread.
One friend wrote: “My darling Carla Maria Black. I have been struggling to get words together for you since I found out. I’m lost for words.
“Give granny Jane, grandpa Joe and your dad a big kiss from me. Good god, I truly wish I could have saved you. Until we meet again.
“I’ll make sure Amelia and Mason know the real, amazing and funny person that I personally knew for all those years.
“Thanks for choosing me to be in your life from the beginning. Rest in peace, save me a seat.”
Another friend wrote: “Still doesn’t feel real. Can’t believe you’re gone. I’m still in shock. RIP you beautiful angel.”
A tribute on the memorial event Facebook page says: “As many people are aware our beautiful girl Carla black past away this weekend and no one had a chance to say goodbye.
“Her mum would like to see everyone who loved Carla and cared for her come and celebrate her birthday the way she would have wanted it.

“So with that in mind, with permission from her mum and family, I would like to invite everyone who cared for Carla and loved Carla to come along and share your memories about her and set balloons off and cannons in her memory .
“I would ask everyone to keep drama away from this event as this is our time to say goodbye to a very much loved daughter, mother, cousin, niece and friend to many.
“Carla was an outgoing, kind-hearted girl who done everything she could to see everyone right in her life.
"She was an amazing mother, daughter and will deeply be missed by everyone around her.
“Fly high you beautiful girl you deserved the best. You will always be missed by everyone gone to soon forever 23.”
