The mum of tragic tot Star Hobson is said to have been left 'devastated' after her sentence was increased to 12 years.
Frankie Smith had originally been jailed for eight years for causing or allowing the death of the 16-month-old.
However, Court of Appeal judges changed it after her original sentence was described as being "too soft".
After being told the news, Smith was put on suicide watch at New Hall prison in West Yorkshire, the Daily Star reports.
Prison staff and inmates known as listeners who are trained by the Samaritans will now be monitoring her welfare.
A source told the Star: “Frankie was devastated to learn of the increase in her sentence.
“Prisoners in her position often turn to self-harm or attempt suicide but there are protocols and balances in place to make sure that doesn’t happen.
“The staff are also obviously aware of her change in sentence and will monitor her for changes in behaviour.
“They have taken her under their wing should she want them to make sure she’s coping the best she can.”
The source added: “Her cell is covered in photos of Star and she has items from her short life like bits of clothes and the odd toy.
“The place is like a shrine as the enormity of what she let happens sinks in.”
Savannah Brockhill, Smith's former girlfriend, stomped Star to death during her campaign on brutal physical and emotional abuse.
The bouncer and security guard, 28, received a minimum sentence of 25 years for murder - which had not been deemed lenient.
Speaking after the judgment, Attorney General Suella Braverman QC said: “This is a tragic and extremely upsetting case and my thoughts are with all those who loved Star Hobson.
“This case involved prolonged cruelty and neglect, deliberate disregard, and a failure to take any steps to protect or seek assistance for her before and after her murder.
“No sentence can reverse this tragedy, but I welcome the decision to reflect the gravity of this offending by increasing the sentence today.”
Smith's grandfather David Fawcett that he was saddened at the extension of her sentence and blamed Brockhill.
He said: “We know people have different opinions on this.
“But one thing we all agree on is that if Frankie had never met this monster none of this would ever have happened.”
