Mum mortified to learn she's been celebrating son's birthday on wrong day for two years

Parents are only human and sometimes they make mistakes, like misplacing a child's favourite toy or forgetting to bring extra nappies with them on a day out.

We might jokingly call these 'parenting fails' and pretty much every mum or dad will find them relatable.

But one mum has just admitted to suffering a parenting fail that's bound to leave others with kids in absolute stitches, as was first reported by The Daily Star.

Emily Vondrachek, who posts on TikTok under the name, @thevondyfam, claimed she's been celebrating her son's birthday on the wrong day for the last two years.

The mum, from the US, explained how a doctor informed her of her blunder after a recent appointment. She was trying to pay for the appointment, but the insurance company had told the paediatrician that the child's birthday was incorrect.

In a viral video, the parent said: "Here's a little story to allow all the mums of littles out there to maybe feel a bit better about yourself. Here's a real confidence boost for you, not for me.

"I just got off the phone with my paediatrician. She's trying to bill our last visit to our insurance company.

"Per my words, my son's birthday is on the 26th. I'm his mother, I know his birthday.

"The insurance company says no, his birthday is on the 25th."

The doctor is trying to get the mix-up 'squared away' and Emily is preparing to call the insurance company and complain about the error when she decides to go back and check her birth announcement on Facebook.

"I just got done doing that and his birthday is indeed, the 25th," she admits, red-faced.

"For two years I've been celebrating his birthday on the 26th. And now I have to call my paediatrician back and say, you know what? I had my kid's birthday wrong."

Emily adds: "You know the worst part? The worst part. He's my middle child. It's my middle child.

"I love my kids. They may not have their birthday celebration on the correct day, but they celebrated the next day."

More than 2.9 million people have since watched the hilarious clip, with over 475,000 people liking it.

Thousands also took the time to reply to share amusing messages for the mum, with some confessing their own parenting fails.

One person wrote: "As a middle child I'm questioning everything I know about my birthday now."

Another responded: "Yep, my third, I've been saying her bday on the 2nd of Feb and she's the 3rd. You're not alone."

Someone else admitted: "I got flustered one day when someone said I had a handsome baby boy and asked his name. I said Ron. Her name is Harper. It's hard out there."

A different user shared: "One year my mother sang Happy Birthday Allison... My name is Ashley. I'm an only child."
