Mum red-faced after trying dating after divorce - as bloke turns up in pyjamas

Online dating is becoming increasingly popular, but it's not the easiest of worlds to navigate - especially as you never really know who it is you're going to meet with when you finally agree to see each other in person.

And one mum on TikTok found out the hard way that not everyone is as perfect as they might seem online, as she agreed to meet up for coffee with one man who left her feeling embarrassed when he turned up for their date in his pyjamas.

Tara, who is now happily married and works as a relationship coach, recalled the bizarre experience in a video where she explained she signed up for Tinder after going through a divorce.

The woman was a single mum at the time and had found time in her schedule for a quick coffee in the afternoon, but was confused when her date text her to tell her she would "like his jammies".

She explained in the video posted to her @tara.relationshipcoach account: "After my very abusive marriage, I decided to start dating, and so I got on Tinder. I've never been on Tinder before. It had not been a thing when I got married. But I decided this is what people do, so I'm going to try it.

"I matched with a guy and he proceeds to tell me that I am fun-sized. Now, I didn't feel very desirable or attractive within myself. And clearly, Tinder was the place to validate that. But I was like, 'okay, guy thinks I'm cute.'

"He says, 'I want to see you today'. And I said, 'Well, I only have a 45-minute window before I have to go and pick up my children' - because I'm a single mum. He goes, 'Great. I'm gonna meet you right by your work and we'll just meet for coffee.'

"So I leave work and mind you, I was a teacher at the time. So I'm wearing professional clothing. And as I'm driving to his coffee place, he texts me and goes, 'I think you'll like my jammies.' And I text back 'haha', because I think he's joking. Because who shows up to a date in your pyjamas when you're meeting someone dressed professionally?"

Little did Tara know that her date was completely serious - as he walked into the coffee shop wearing SpongeBob SquarePants pyjama bottoms and wolf slippers.

And to make matters worse, three of Tara's school students entered the coffee shop in the middle of their date, leaving the former teacher even more embarrassed.

She added: "I'm there at the coffee shop, and he enters. I get up and I go and meet him. And he is wearing pyjamas. He's wearing SpongeBob SquarePants flannel [pyjama bottoms], and giant wolf slippers. And I'm in my professional teacher garb.

"I see three of my current students walk in and sit in the room. And the whole time I'm thinking, 'they know I'm on a date with a guy wearing giant wolf paw slippers.'

"He proceeds to tell me about a novel he's writing that's set within Norse mythology, and he tells me a lot about Thor and Loki and how he's reshaping that to be better than the Marvel series."

Eventually, the woman told her date that she couldn't see things working out between them, and was shocked by the man's rude response.

She recalled: "At the end of the date, I say politely, 'it was really nice to meet you but I don't think I'm interested', and he tells me, 'B***h, I wouldn't have driven all this way and worn my best wolf slippers if I'd known that it was going to end like this.'

"That was my first Tinder date."

However, Tara's Tinder experience wasn't all bad, as she noted in the caption of her video that she stayed on the platform after the disastrous date and met her current husband.
