Mum makes devastating call to daughter after shopping trip

A mum made a devastating phone call to her daughter after realising a bracelet containing her late husband's ashes had fallen off her wrist.

Georgina Wright has been wearing the very sentimental gold bracelet, which contains her late husband's ashes, every day since her grandchildren rallied around to buy the thoughtful gift. But devastatingly this weekend she heartbreakingly realised the bracelet had fallen off.

Daughter Susan Gibbs, from Childwall, said her 80-year-old mum went shopping with her family on Saturday, however later that evening she noticed her arm was bare.

Georgina had visited the Natwest bank in Old Swan and Home Bargains in Edge Lane as Susan told the ECHO: "She got a shower Saturday evening and rang me and said she hasn't got her bracelet on. She recalls having it on the Thursday and is sure she had it on the Friday.

"She's not been too good lately health wise and it's the first anniversary of his death on Friday, she's devastated."

John Wright died in 2022 following a battle with lung cancer and wife of over 60 years Georgina was devastated. But her grandchildren rallied around to get the special gold bracelet made for her and she has not taken it off since.

Susan added: "It's devastating. Don't get me wrong, it could be in the house she doesn't know where she lost it. We are hoping and praying we find it in the car but we've searched everywhere. We've searched the bins and couches.

"Cash converters has been fantastic, we sent an email asking them to keep an eye out and Milton's, all the jewellers in Old Swan have been amazing keeping an eye out and our post has been shared over 1,500 times.

"It's a bangle that you wouldn't even know had ashes in it but we are hoping if someone does pick it up they will come forward. It could be that it's misplaced but we are asking people to keep a look out in case."

Writing on social media, Susan said: "My mum has tragically lost her gold bangle, which held my Dad’s ashes. Please be on the lookout for a precious gold bangle with a clasp. Finding it would mean the world to my mum and our family."
