A mum has been left red-faced after her attempt at dyeing the carpet in her home went terribly wrong - leaving the fabric and her walls completely destroyed.
Melissa Ashleigh fancied sprucing up her home and changing her carpets to a fashionable dark grey, but instead of paying to have them professionally replaced, she thought she would save some pennies by taking on the job herself.
But in a video, which has since went viral on social media, the woman showed viewers how much of a mess she made of both the fabric and her once-clean walls during the botched job of painting her carpets, reports the Mirror.
Melissa sprayed her floors with dye using what she thought was a carpet cleaner, but the final result was patchy and left her surroundings - and herself - drenched in paint.
The woman shared the video to her TikTok account @melissaashleigh0, and poked fun at the situation in the caption as she left several laughing emojis alongside the words: "Thought I'd try dyeing my carpet."
After commenters demanded an update on what seemed to be a sheer disaster, Melissa took to TikTok once again to let people know exactly what had happened to her hallway - which will end up costing her a fortune, as she now needs to replace her carpets anyway.
She said: "So this is the carpet, and these are the walls that I've ruined because I didn't use anything [to protect] up the sides. So yeah, it's going to need ripping out."
The videos have left people online in stitches, as while most commenters feel sorry for the mum, they also can't stop giggling at the disaster - with many saying it was an "instant regret" moment.
One person wrote: "This is what I would do but then instantly regret it." While another said: "This is definitely one of those things you instantly regret."
And a third posted: "Oh my god, don't you hate it when you take up all those hours and then you don't like what you did and then have to pay extra?! Sorry hun, always worth a try though!"
