Mum left in stitches after baby girl is squeezed into glass tube for X-ray

An adorable video has shown just how babies can be kept still for X-rays, and the technique had this baby's mum giggling in the background.

The video shows six-month-old Stevie being squeezed into a clear tube in order to keep her still while the X-rays are being taken.

Stevie, from St John's in Newfoundland, Canada, is shown being X-rayed with arms high up in the clear cylinder, as her mum giggled in the background. A woman's voice can be heard commenting on how it looks like she's "in a spaceship".

She has Down's Syndrome and a congenital heart defect, so the infant is no stranger to X-rays. The device she's in is called a Pigg-O-Stat.

It's designed to hold babies or small children completely still during X-rays. The manufacturer's site describes the Pigg-O-Stat as a "paediatric immobilisation device designed for positioning infants and young children for an appropriate X-ray without significant complications."

The Pigg-O-Stat isn't exactly a new invention though, it's been around since 1960 according to manufacturers. They say that their tech "provides X-ray technicians the best opportunity to capture a great picture on the first attempt."

This, they say means "infants receive significantly less exposure to radiation" and protects staff from radiation exposure as they don't have to hold the child still.

Meanwhile, another mother has shared her shock after finding out that she'd been raising a stranger's daughter for five years.

The 29-year-old woman took to Reddit to share her story, saying her husband accused her of cheating because their child looks nothing like them. He took a paternity test as a result, and he was "devastated" by the results.

In an effort to clear her name, the woman began to investigate their daughter's DNA matches, claiming she and her biological daughter were "switched at birth."

She spent weeks tracking down her biological daughter - and has now allegedly started the adoption process to bring her home.

"She was in foster care," explained the mum. She said her biological daughter had been taken home by a "family who ended up under investigation", and when she was proven not to be their biological child she was taken by the state.

The woman claims to have sued the hospital for a hefty amount - and is using the money to help their new, extended family, move.

She said her daughter is "ecstatic" after being told her sister is coming to stay with them. "I don't know what we're going to do about the other family," she wrote.

Since learning the reality behind what happened, the woman said her relationship with her husband is stronger than ever.

"I love him more than anything in the world, and he loves me," she said. "We've been through hell and come out the other side, and we are not interested in breaking up, or ending the relationship, or anything like that."
