Mum left in hysterics after store loyalty card names her as 'Miss A Hole'

A mum couldn't stop laughing after receiving a store loyalty card addressed 'Miss A Hole' - after the shop worker wrote down her name wrong at the till.

Kate Hall had popped into Lakeland in Llanelli after taking her four-year-old daughter Poppy for an eye test at an opticians close by.

The mum-of-three wandered round the kitchenware store before picking up some Tupperware for Poppy and her two sons Alfie, nine, and seven-year-old Ellis. While paying at the checkout, the shop employee asked if she would like to sign up to the store's loyalty scheme. Kate agreed and gave them her details, including her name and address, Wales Online reports.

However, the personal trainer was left in stitches when the loyalty card arrived in the post two weeks later - addressed to 'Miss A Hole'. Lakeland said that "in a busy store environment" the staff member had misheard Kate when typing in her information and that they are currently in the process of sending her a new card.

Kate, from Llanelli, said: "It came through the door and I just laughed as soon as I looked at it. It's not even just on the letter - it's on the back of the plastic card as well.

"I think I'll put it in the see-through part of my purse instead of my driver's licence. The shop assistants gone completely off track with everything. I don't know if it's down to my Welsh accent because she was also Welsh.

"She went through the usual things - 'are you Miss or Mrs?' and I said Mrs. 'First initial?' and I said 'K'. Then she asked for my surname and I said 'Hall' and I always spell out my surname because companies have misheard my name on the phone before.

"She put the details into the computer then gave me a temporary card and said my official card would come through the post. You'd think that she would've thought it was odd at the time. So for two weeks, I was blissfully unaware that as far as Lakeland thought, my name was 'Miss A Hole'."

Kate said that while some may have been offended by the error, she could see the funny side. She added that her friends and family found the mishap "quite hilarious", and joked that she must have annoyed the shop worker somehow to deserve her new title.

Kate said: "Everyone found it quite hilarious. One of my friends said: 'Were you just a b**ch in the shop?' I was only buying Tupperware. My family joked it was either some form of passive aggression or the woman completely misunderstood it and was oblivious to the fact she'd put 'A Hole'.

"Maybe the music was too loud in there or she wasn't paying enough attention but either way I had a good giggle looking at it. You have to treat these things with a sense of humour but I imagine some people would be quite offended. It's a bit of a badge of honour and a funny thing to tell people. I might as well keep it until it expires."

A Lakeland spokesman said: "In a busy store environment our store colleague misheard our customer when registering them for our Lakeland club. Our customer service team were quick to pick up Miss Hall’s tweet and have contacted her to arrange an update to her details. We’d like to thank Miss Hall for her understanding and good humour."
