A mum from the Wirral said a gang of teenagers on bikes 'made her day' when they provided an unexpected act of kindness to her daughter and son.
Vikki Louise Lynchy, a mum of two from Wallasey, was out doing 'beat the street' on Sunday - an orienteering programme to encourage walking - with her children when her son, Levi-Jordan, 7, decided he wanted to have a go on the bike ramps at Wallasey Central Park. Vikki said she was 'quite nervous' about letting her son, and her daughter, Ava, 4, use the ramps.
She said that since the bike track was installed in March it has had 'had a lot of bad press'- with her friends on Facebook often reporting stolen bikes and intimidating gangs of young people hanging around the area. She said that until Sunday she hadn't let Levi-Jordan use the ramps, despite his repeated requests, because of how nervous she was about the area.

Yet, by chance the young family found themselves beside the track and despite a gang of around 10 people aged up to 17 hanging out there, this time Vikki couldn't say no. She admitted that she was 'quite nervous' about the situation at first.
Despite the nerves, Vikki would be left 'howling' with laughter as the group of boys began to play with her kids, cheering them on during their first go on the ramps and making the experience 'really nice'.
She told the ECHO : "I must admit, I was quite nervous about going because the track had a lot of bad press when it was first put in but my son's been asking to go since.
"Considering how many people were in there I thought he would've been quite uncomfortable. But no, once the teens there started being friendly with him he was fine, he got straight on it.
"They were brilliant. They were all just playing on their bikes and my son was playing on his bike and wanted to have a go. He came off it at one point and all the lads were running over to him and picking up his bike for him and were helping him up and checking he was okay.
"He was nervous after he came off about getting back on but they got him back up and on it, and then they were saying 'well done' because of how he jumped back up. It was really nice. They were all like 'oh here you are we'll show you how to do it' whenever they got stuck, and they were swapping bikes and stuff. It was actually so funny to watch.
"Then my daughter wanted a go, so one of the lads stopped the other lads to let her have a go on it. But she was a bit nervous and didn't want to go on it at first. So one of the older lads, must've been about 16 or 17, said come on and he took her Disney bike and was showing her how to ride it. Ava was loving it. We were sat howling on the grass at the edge watching them and she was laughing her head off. It was just dead nice of them."
