A woman was "in shock" after finding a "complete stranger" trying her door handles while she was putting her five month old baby to bed.
The woman, who wished to not be named, said on Sunday evening at around 8pm she and her partner had planned to have an early night before they "heard a noise" outside.
She told the ECHO "all lights were off" at their home on Carkington Road, Woolton and they were suddenly alerted to motion in the garden from their doorbell camera.

She said: "At that time on a Sunday night everyone puts their bins out so we assumed it was next door but when we were alerted to motion I checked the camera and it was on the floor.
"My boyfriend went to the side window to see if he could see anything and there was a lad with his face covered and he was looking around with his torch on his phone.
"My boyfriend shouted and he legged it back over the fence but we found he had pulled the camera off and the light and you can see him looking through the windows and trying the door."
The new mum said the Woolton area is "usually really nice and quiet" and she has "never had any issues with safety until now".
She said: "I was in shock. It's a really nice road and have houses facing us and either side. I've always thought there's loads of people around that nothing could happen here. I'm in shock still.
"At first I was scared, I've got a five month old and that upset me more than anything but now I'm more angry. Why do people feel like they have a right to do something like this?
"I've told our neighbours to keep an eye out. I've only been here for two years, before that we lived with my mum and dad and they had multiple break ins. That's why we have the camera and extra security.
"I'm aware it can happen but you don't expect it to happen. Now I am worried for our safety in my own home. I think he genuinely thought no-one was home because our lights were off."
The Woolton resident is now urging others to remain vigilant as "anything can happen".
Merseyside Police confirmed they received a report that at around 8.30pm on Sunday, March 6 the occupant of a house on Carkington Road in Woolton had a doorbell activation alert and saw a male in dark clothing in the rear garden.
A spokesman added: "The male is believed to have tried the door handle but when shouted at ran off.
"Enquiries have been carried out.
