A mum of three, who doesn't like eating leftover food, spends £1,500 on fizzy drinks every year and lives on takeaways. BirminghamLive reports that the Stirrat family spends £12,000 on food over the course of 12 months.
The clan, from Scotland, appeared on the BBC One show, Eat Well for Less, with mum Karen in disbelief after learning what their annual expenses are.
Justifying why she prefers to avoid leftover food, Karen said: "You're trying to get some nutritious foods but nutritious food often has to be cooked from scratch. Pre-packed chickens are a go-to. It's something the kids enjoy.

"Leftovers are a taboo subject. If something's been used, it's been made and it's been sat in there, then it goes off." However, dad Andy believes the family waste between £20 and £25 each week on food.
Their weekly food shop is £105 a week, with top-ups here and there causing it to rise to more than £150. The pair also splash the cash on regular takeaways - meaning their annual food bills are worth an eye-watering £12,000
On the BBC show, the family learned handy tricks, tips and hacks - and managed to save a whopping £6k.
