A woman has hit back after she claims that a restaurant manager 'laughed in her face' when she took her family out for dinner.
The mum was celebrating her son's birthday when a server accidentally spilled a tray of drinks, splashing two other people at her table. Taking to a popular online forum, she explained that the waiter was very apologetic and replaced the drinks right away.
Once the night was over, the family got the bill and saw that just £5 had been deducted. Writing on Mumsnet, she went on to complain to the manager and asked if they would pay for dry cleaning.

It was then, she claimed, that he laughed in her face and said: "it was only beer."
Explaining the situation, she said: "Last night my family (five of us) went to a local restaurant for my son's birthday.
"Drinks were ordered, including two pints of beer and three soft drinks and when they were brought over the waitress accidentally spilled the drinks over two of my party, wetting their trousers and shoes, and trainers.
"Staff were most apologetic and cleaned up the mess as best they could, replaced the drinks, and informed us that we would not be charged for the drinks.
"When the bill came at the end of the meal they had charged for all the drinks with the exception of one pint of beer.
"I queried this with the manager who said that he could/would not authorise any further reductions to the bill but could give no real explanation as to why not. He was quite rude and laughed in my face when I was arguing the point. He also laughed when I asked if they would pay for any dry cleaning saying no they wouldn't as 'it's just beer'. The bill came to £110 and they deducted £5 off for the beer."
She added: "Was I right to complain and expect not to be charged for all the drinks or am I being over dramatic as it was an accident?"
Many flocked to the comments to give their opinion. While some agreed with her, others who had worked in hospitality recalled their own experiences.
One said: "What!!! That's insanely poor customer service! You definitely should complain- what poor service!"
A second said: "I wouldn't expect to pay for any of the spilled drinks and I would expect the next round on the house by way of apology. I'd expect to pay in full for the food, any further drinks, and the service charge."
"They may have replaced the drinks but I'm assuming some of your party had to sit and eat in wet clothing? If so, they should have done more than just replace the drinks," a third commented.
But another questioned: "Did the items of clothes actually need dry cleaning though?"
And one replied: "This happened to me as a waitress, I was absolutely mortified. I quickly lost all respect for them when they started to harp on about dry cleaning a polo T-shirt and jeans. Accidents happen."
