Mum hits back after parents troll her for her son's epic £3,000 Bluey party

A woman has hit back at trolls after she was slated for throwing a lavish £2,800 birthday party - for her one-year-old son. Sabina Marriott, 28, wanted the first birthday of her son, Leon, to be memorable and themed the elaborate decorations around children's character Bluey.

Sabina, from Melbourne, Australia, spent six months - half her son's life- planning the big day and spent thousands making sure everything was just so. She then shared pictures from the party, which showed a colourful array of balloons, on Facebook and was hit with hateful comments - so new she's clapped back.

Sabina said: "The party wasn't just to celebrate Leon's birthday - it was for ourselves, our family, and the kids too - everyone loves Bluey.

"It's like people have forgotten we've just had two years of Covid where we couldn't see our families - some of our relatives hadn't even met him yet either."

Some of the Facebook commenters said the party was a "waste of money" and others said Leon "won't remember it", but Sabina is unrepentant.

Around 70 people attended the party (seno.photography/ Supplied)

She said the party was '90 per cent DIY', and everything was sourced locally, where possible.

"It was such a great feeling seeing the kid's faces light up when they saw the setup," Sabina said in an interview with the Daily Mail.

Sabina later confirmed that around 70 people, including many children, had attended the party and enjoyed the petting zoo, ball pit, and huge birthday cake.

Meanwhile, one stressed-out mum caused a walkout at a three-year-old's birthday party after her daughter was forced to partake in four separate photoshoots for Instagram.

The mother-daughter duo were invited to a nursery classmate's birthday party at an indoor playground - and expected the day to involve soft play and snacks.

But when they arrived, the mum quickly realised the party was being used as an Instagram opportunity by the birthday boy's mum, as she organised four photoshoots in less than two hours, leaving the children with about 30 minutes to play in total.

Venting on Reddit, the mum said: "We had to follow the itinerary we didn't realise we had. The kids had two group rides, which always came with a photo shoot before each ride."
