Mum finds EYEBALL in Iceland diced beef and says 'imagine if my kids had eaten it'

A mum was left stunned after finding what resembled an 'eyeball' in her pack of supermarket meat - with the incident compared to I'm a Celebrity.

Marylou Vincent bought the frozen 350kg bag of Lean Diced Beef Steak from Iceland for £3.50.

It was after she started cooking the food for her family of seven that she spotted something unusual in it.

She was left horrified after seeing the foreign object that looked like an eyeball.

Mum-of-five Marylou, from Croydon, south London, has complained to the frozen food store giant.

She wrote on social media: "Imagine you are halfway cooking your food and you find an eye in your meat.

"You contact Iceland and they're like 'Can you send us an email and we're sorry you weren't happy with the product'.

"You're b***dy joking, I want to throw up.

"Imagine me or the kids had eaten this."

Friend Lucy Botting commented: "I think that bag was meant for I'm A Celeb Bushtucker trial."

Tammy Louise said: "Oh wow, that takes keeping an eye on you to a whole new level."

Samantha Hunt said: "Oh my God that's so bad and disgusting."

Adele Benson said: "More worrying is that is beef and that's too small to be a cow's eye."

Iceland denied it was an eyeball, but refused to say what it was.

A spokesperson said: "We want to thank Ms Vincent for drawing this to our attention, and extend our apologies to her and her family that this product did not reach her in the highest quality standard we intended.

"We immediately addressed this with our supplier and can confirm that this is not a food safety issue, but rather a natural defect that should have been removed during the butchery process.

"This is something that we have confirmed with Ms Vincent directly.

"We understand Ms Vincent's frustrations, but hope she will choose to shop at Iceland again using the voucher we have loaded onto her Iceland Bonus Card.

"We are committed to proving our customers with the highest quality products at the best value across our entire frozen range."
