Mum embarrased at 'rude word' plastered over Peppa Pig plate

A mum has been left red-faced after buying a new Peppa Pig dinner set for her toddler daughter - only to find a 'rude word' plastered around the edge of the plate.

Peppa Pig is popular with toddlers and is generally seen as a wholesome dose of animal-based fun and learning.

But Maggy Van Eijk says she was confused by the phrase written around the edge of the plate she had bought.

The problem came because Maggy had accidentally bought a French version of the dinner set online.

So where the word 'oink' should have circled the plate, instead there was the French version.

In a French accent, pigs apparently say 'groin' - the word for a pig's snout.

Sharing a photo of the dinner set, Maggy tweeted: "My kid just unwrapped her new Peppa dinner set and I accidentally ordered a French version.

“Now it says groin groin groin all over the plates and cup.”

One follower said: "I knew French ducks said 'coin coin' but didn't know pigs spoke in groin. Every day's a school day."

Another said: "You are in more trouble than you think. You will need to explain that the "oi" in "groin groin" is pronounced "wa." So when they meet the English words "Oink, oink" be careful how they pronounce them."

“Living in France at present I find this hilarious,” another wrote.

“A child’s first chance to understand there are many different languages!!!”

“Sorry I should not laugh but you have brightened up my day,” another woman tweeted.

She told the Evening Standard : "She turned two so she has literally no idea what it says, thank god."
