Mum dumps entire spaghetti bolognese onto table in 'no washing up hack'

A mum admits her kids thought she was 'having a breakdown' when she chucked their entire spaghetti bolognese straight onto the dining table - but it proved the ultimate 'no washing up' hack. Hannah Levine says her hubby had told her to 'chuck dinner on the table' so the mum-of-two took his instructions literally and served Willow, 10, and Oakley, five, a 'plate-less' meal.

Hilarious footage shows her two kids baffled by their mum's sudden decision to throw their spaghetti, meatballs and bolognese sauce across the middle of the tablecloth without plates. In the clip Hannah's daughter can be heard saying 'what are you doing?' as her little brother stares in shock at the spaghetti splatters onto the surface in front of him.

As Hannah tips the meatballs onto the table top and finishes the dish off with a large sprinkling of cheese, both children are heard to scream at their mum's 'fun' dinner time plans.

While she gave them knives and forks, Hannah says the kids eventually ditched cutlery and began eating the spaghetti with their hands - meaning even less washing up was required.

Images show how even the dogs helped out - clambering on the table to tuck in alongside the family. She said the whole meal cost her around £10 to make and was completely vegan and the hack meant it only took '30-seconds' to clean up with no washing up required.

The mum-of-two shared her ingenious way to get her children to eat more food at teatime - while also saving time for her feet up afterwards too. Hannah said: "It was a joke really. I told my husband dinner was ready and he said 'chuck it on the table and I'll be there in a minute' so I did.

"They [my kids] loved it and in the end gave up with cutlery and it was a free for all. I originally gave them cutlery but they gave up on this quickly."

Before calling her kids down for tea at 6pm, Hannah placed two disposable tablecloths and tin foil on the table to act as a protective layer and to help keep the food warm. The 30-year-old said her kids didn't know beforehand what she was going to do and they thought she was having a 'breakdown' when she started to tip their tea all over the table.

Hannah, a cleaner, said: "When I first poured the spaghetti onto the table, they were like 'mum what are you doing?'. When I put the sauce on the table, I think my daughter thought I was having a breakdown.

"My son was questioning why there weren't any plates."

Hannah said her kids ate more food than they usually do serving their meal in this way and even her three Yorkshire Terriers helped themselves to some of the Italian cuisine when everyone else had finished. Hannah said: "Normally I make a large dinner and then any leftovers my husband takes to work the next day.

"On this occasion, my dogs joined in and ate whatever was left and then the rest went in the bin. My kids were so distracted by the fun element of this tea, they tucked in and ate more than they usually would.

"It became a challenge between them of who could eat the most off the table. I've not done it again since. Every time I tell my kids we're having spaghetti for tea they're very disappointed to come down and see plates on the table.

"But I'd tell mums to give it a go. Other than it being fun and easy to clean up, it can be a struggle to get your kids to eat all their dinner."

After serving the spaghetti meal, Hannah shared her fun teatime activity with her friends and posted a video of her kid's reactions to the 'plate-less' meal on Facebook. Hannah said: "When I posted the video to Facebook and sent it to some of my friends, I had mixed reactions back.

"Some said it looked really fun and others said they wouldn't do it in their house because of the mess but there's actually less mess with this dinner as it's so easy to clean up. It looks more messy than it is but it's actually very easy to clean up."

On Facebook one user said: "So when you said pop round for dinner what does this actually involve?"

Another commented: "Hilarious. Their wee faces. Not sure what you're going to do for dessert."

A third user said: "Haha! Their little faces. A great way of saving on the washing up."

A fourth commented: "Love it. Hope they enjoyed it."
